The CLIENT is a world leading developer and manufacturer of motor controllers for applications within pumps, electric motors, conveyor belts and cranes. The CLIENT will be a major part of the new division.

THE POSITION
As Functional Safety Development Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the safety concept development and will define safety requirements on hardware and software. You will influence software/hardware architecture and design to ensure that the functional safety is always in accordance with international norms and standards. As you will lead certification activities, you will be in close contact with certifying authorities like TÜV, UL and Berufsgenossenschaft.

You will become part of one of the most innovative development environments using modern design and simulation tools and the newest testing equipment. The Functional Safety function is a team of highly-qualified safety engineers who ensure development of new Functional Safety products.

You will work with a number of external contacts, e.g. CLIENT companies in India, USA and other locations, and therefore travelling is part of the job.

THE CANDIDATE
As a person you are a professionally curious and ambitious functional safety development engineer who enjoys working with many different people exchanging knowledge and experience.

You have a high sense of quality and set high standards for your own performance. You can overview the full product functionality, as well as the important details within functional safety and certification tasks.

You are qualified to a university degree in electrical engineering, software, and computer science or similar, you have knowledge of analogue/digital electronics, μC’s and industrial field busses like PROFISAFE & CIP Safety. You are familiar with the standards IEC 61508, EN 954 and EN 13849 and have experience within software quality assurance and safety critical systems.

Further, you are expected to:
Have at least 5 years’ experience within functional safety, industrial automation or similar functions
Enjoy working in an informal environment
Be motivated by participating in all phases of product development, from idea to finished product
Enjoy to work with many internal and external partners
Travel approx. 30 days
Good command of technical English, both orally and written
